Autonomous Driving

Audi R&D boss Urlich Hackenberg revealed that the new A8 would introduce advanced assisted driving technology, including the ability to travel autonomously on motorways at speeds of up to 40mph. Audi sources also said that the A8 would be a ‘technical masterpiece’ and was intended to out-point Mercedes’ hugely successful new-generation S-Class.

The A8 will make extensive use of ‘cloud computing’ for the ‘piloted driving’ option, constantly communicating with mainframe computers, uploading information about road conditions and downloading previously uploaded data about road and traffic conditions. Hackenberg revealed that the next A8 would make extensive use of sensors, giving 360-degree coverage. These will include long-range radar, laser scanners and monovideo cameras facing forward, medium range radar facing rearwards and ultra sonic sensors at each side.

Exterior

It is hard to deny that at this time buyers are more selective. They will choose a car that is more than just having a great brand. They will see more improvements and changes. At this time, 2017 Audi Q7 is reported to come out with all-aluminum bodywork. By having new light weight aluminum hybrid made of the combination of high-strength steel and other light materials, it is reasonable if this edition has lighter bodyweight compared to the previous model.

It is also mentioned by unofficial reports that Audi will do their best attempt to offer more changes especially to make it much better than Porsche Panamera and Bentley. We found a strong indication that 2017 Audi Q7 could be designed with rear-wheel drive configuration. In another word, the possibility to use Modular Standard Platform built by VW team is quite high.

Powertrain

The next generation Audi A8 models will receive a brand new V6 TDI engine with 286 hp (210 kW) and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft) of torque. The aforementioned engine probably replaces the current 3.0-liter TDI with 258 hp (190 kW) and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft) of torque. Audi’s engineers have made some revisions in the framework of the most powerful petrol engine, W12, which should have a reduced volume of 6.3 to 6.0 liters. The new W12 engine should deliver 585 hp (430 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. It is for 85 hp and 175 Nm more than in the current engine. Sport Chassis largest Audi models that carries S8 badge should have the same 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, as well as the current model, but its power will be increased from 520 hp (382 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque to 580 hp (472 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft). The Audi plans to offer a plug-in hybrid version, and the version used to V6 turbo gasoline and electric motor that would be paired with eight-speed automatic transmission.
