2016 Subaru Impreza Specs, Release Date and Review

The 2016 Subaru Impreza is already in the plan, the next performance car is very likely to inherit the wild design style of the WRX Concept Car introduced at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The 2015 Subaru WRX, which is recently released, disappointed many people since the car itself doesn’t look anything like what the concept displayed.

Motoring.com.au in Australia is reporting that the new 2016 Subaru Impreza will look more like the WRX Concept that got so much positive attention. They are also saying that the next-generation WRX and WRX STI will also get lines that look more like the Concept car that made its debut at the New York Auto Show 2013.

According to an interview with Subaru’s chief designer, Mamoru Ishii, he has told the Australian auto website that “the lauded concept’s sporty, aggressive stance will indeed reach production and is due to appear on the all-new Impreza due in 2016, and the WRX that will follow.”

Even though Subaru has dropped the Impreza name from the WRX, the two models still keep some of the same design themes. This should be good news for WRX and STI fans as the more radical-looking WRX Concept was very popular with performance fans around the globe. It looks like Subaru was listening and the design will be coming first in the new 2016 Impreza that is due for a remodel.

Mamoru Ishii went on to tell Motoring, “Yes, we have taken the next-generation Impreza’s design in a new direction that we are sure will excite the marketplace,” And he also said that the next-generation WRX would receive some the the WRX Concept car’s “key proportions.” He went on to say, “We are planning to give the lower section below the hip line a wider, more substantial stance and narrow up the roof section.” This suggests that the new WRX and STI will have a lower stance, and bolder look.

Without divulging any more details, Ishii also indicated that Subaru is preparing for an all-new model onslaught. The new Impreza and the subsequent WRX will be leading the pack with designs that will trace their roots to the 2013 WRX Concept.

If we’re to hold Ishii and Takatsu to their word, the 2016 Impreza and WRX could be the prettiest variants since the bug-eyed and blob-eyed models of the early 2000’s, if not the prettiest ever.

With the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO going by the wayside soon, the scintillatingly styled WRX and STI may finally be the undisputed kings of the rallysport four-banger squad. At least until the new Mazdaspeed 3 comes out.

Release Date and Price

The new 2016 Subaru Impreza is expected to be built at Subaru’s plant in Indiana and is going to be introduced in late 2015 or sometime in 2016. Subaru hasn’t officially announced its official pricing, but TopSpeed expects that the future performance car will cost around $19,000. Stay tuned, guys!
