2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Release Date and Review

It has been confirmed that Mercedes will resurrect its ultra-luxury flagship car, the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600, in the next Los Angeles Motor Show. After three years of hiatus state, the flagship sedan will once again displayed in showrooms and ready to compete against familiar names such as Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur. Two official teaser images has been circulating, causing excitement to Mercedes fans around the world.

Most of the changes will occur on the inside where there will be significantly more rear legroom with electronically-adjustable and reclining individual rear seats. There’s going to be a higher level of customization available along with a more generous choice of materials and trims.

Exterior

The added inches to the S-Class’ wheelbase means the Mercedes-Maybach S600 provides more rear legroom and comfort than any other limousine in the company’s lineup. A couple of bespoke, individual rear seats will provide passengers with the utmost comfort, while high-quality, soft-touch materials will cover most of the cabin.

The large amount of leather and Alcantara will be complemented by wood and aluminum trim, as well as diamond-quilted seating surfaces and contrast stitching on the door panels. A massive console runs between the seats providing added comfort and additional storage room.

Interior

The extra length goes to cabin space, and the Maybach designation means new cabin materials over those of the already-posh S-Class. Mercedes promises more space, unique seats and exclusive materials not seen in its standard-issue flagship.

Like other S-Class sedans, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 will have many options, Bokich promised. Mercedes’ single interior image of the car showed upholstery-stitched window pillars, power rear seats with extending ottomans and quilted leather along the seats, center armrest and footwells.

Powertrain

The “S600” name implies it will use a V12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine generating 530 HP (390 kW) and 830 Nm (612 lb-ft) of torque but we won’t be too surprised if Mercedes-Benz will bump the output a bit. We’ll know for sure on November 18 when the range-topping S-Class will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The company says the Maybach name is not simply an equipment line like its recently introduced AMG-Line, but represents a sub-brand reserved for the most exclusive Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Other Maybach branded vehicles could join the S-Class range or even infiltrate other Mercedes segments. “It is a sub-brand that in future will deliver Mercedes-Benz vehicles in an even more exclusive form,” said the car-maker.

The Maybach name made famous in the 1920s and 1930s was revived by Daimler as a foil to Rolls-Royce and Bentley when those brands were acquired by German rivals BMW and Volkswagen, and went on sale in Australia in 2004.
