2016 Mercedes C450 Sport AMG Wagon Spy Shots

Rumors have been spreading that Mercedes is currently developing 2016 Mercedes C450 Sport AMG Wagon, which is positioned to fill the gap between the C400 and the upcoming C63 AMG. Spy photographers managed to take some pictures showing the brand new C-Class undergoing road test with no camouflage.

Exterior

Caught completely undisguised, the second-brawniest current-generation C-Class Wagon sports a more aggressive front bumper that doesn’t stray too far from the piece seen on the regular model and an AMG-style grille that carries just one horizontal bar.

Around back, the differences are less noticeable, with only a dual-exhaust system catching our eyes. The wagon also benefits from a different set of wheels that are similar to some we’ve seen recently from AMG. The “4MATIC” badge on the rear hatch suggests the C450 AMG Sport will arrive with all-wheel-drive.

Of course, the C450 doesn’t get a full suite of AMG upgrades – those are reserved for the C63. However, buyers should still be able to show that they have something special. These spy photos highlight the C450’s diamond grille, large wheels and quad tailpipes nestled in a rear diffuser. The car is also rumored to benefit from an improved suspension and brakes.

Interior

Unfortunately, there is no detailed information about its interior. However, we expect that the interior will feature the latest technology of Mercedes combined with sporty touches.

Powertrain

Scheduled to hit the market sometime in 2015, both the sedan and wagon versions of the C450 will carry a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V-6. This engine puts out 329 horsepower in the C400 model, so it wouldn’t shocked us to see the hotter C450 AMG Sport carry more than 370 ponies.

Release Date and Price

Currently, we’re only seeing a 2016 Mercedes C450 Sport AMG Wagon, but a sedan version is very possible to go for production. Meanwhile, the wagon version hasn’t been confirmed yet for U.S. market. That being said that the C450 will be revealed sometime in 2015. As for pricing, TopSpeed guys expect that it will be tagged with a price of $52,000.
