2016 Kia Soul Electric Engine, Specifications and Review

Kia is reported to be preparing the 2016 Kia Soul EV, a special edition model sporting electric powered engine. As expected before, this update is a mid-cycle refresh which only brings a few detail refinements and enhancements. Kia will keep the boxy bodywork as is, the main changes will be in engine department.

Exterior

In order to help the driver to keep concerning on the road traffic at night, there are LED headlights with projections system along with high beam assist. For the tail lights, it gets LED support while the alloy wheels go for 16-inches. As the option there is a panoramic roof with fog lights for the rear bumper. In addition, 2016 Kia Soul has tiger nose grille but it will be broader to give a new look. There is Vehicle Stability system added to make the car stays stable when it braked suddenly for wet or rough roads.

Interior

A special treatment would be given to the 2016 Kia Soul to make the ride more joyable and comfortable. Most of the interior parts would be cast out of recycled components. Bio fabric, Bio Foam, Bio Plastic would be used for manufacturing the interior.

An 8-inch display and supervision instrument cluster would be seen featured in this new model. The development team of this model of Kia are trying to make the car as eco friendly as possible. The seat cushions height and the distance between the roof and cushion would be optimized to make getting in and out easily.

Powertrain

A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumps 250 horsepower to the pavement, a 66 percent increase over that of the production Soul. Power is routed to all four wheels via an electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system. The short-throw six-speed manual transmission is capped with a stubby spherical shift lever. The Track’ster rides on a lowered sport suspension tuned for track performance. Back then, such a concept wasn’t that far from the realm of reality and now Kia officials are confirming that concept dreams sometimes do come true.

2016 Kia Soul Release Date and Price

Rumors said that the 2016 Kia Soul EV is expected to make its first appearance in late 2015 or early 2016. It will be available California and Oregon and possibly some eastern states such as New York, New Jersey and Maryland. Pricing details is not available for now, but expect for a slight price increase in the upcoming model. We estimate that the 2016 Soul would cost around $30,000. Stay tuned for future updates.
