2016 Jaguar F-Pace SUV Shares C-X17 Concept’s Design

The Jaguar F-Pace SUV prototype shows that it shares the Jaguar C-X17 concept design styling which was released back in 2013. The test mule was spotted by spy photographers when doing some road tests. Jaguar is referring to the new F-Pace model as a “performance crossover” as opposed to an SUV.

Even underneath all that camouflage war paint, it’s clear that much of the original C-X17 SUV concept’s exterior will make the jump from showfloor to showroom unscathed. The size and dimensions are said to be near identical to the C-X17, which is 4.72m long – 400mm longer than a Range Rover Evoque – and 1.65m tall.

Jaguar’s initial teaser image of the F-Pace badge confirmed that the F-Type aping tail-lights have been retained, but these images reveal that the same upright grille, fast-sloping rear screen, ultra-short front overhang and sinewy haunches of the show car are still present and correct. Those black alloy wheels aren’t quite the monster 23-inch rims of the show car, we’d estimate, but nor do they look particularly small.

The interior set to be revealed on the Jaguar C-X17 release will provide a more versatile environment than ever before found on a Jaguar vehicle. Designed to set the new standards of automobile design, the all-new C-X17 blends together an uncompromising combination of new forward-thinking technology and design tastefully graced with the Jaguar commitment to luxury and quality. More engaging, interactive and supportive than ever, every possible driving necessity for safety and convenience gets placed in an intuitive position for a more enjoyable and a refined driving experience. The materials set to be used on the interior of the C-X17 will consist of fine leather with inspired shapes and designs from premium clothing and other modernly styled subject matters.

The supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine is set to be the most powerful version of the F-Pace when it goes on sale, although there is a chance that the supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8 that’s used in many of Jaguar’s high-performance models will also make it into the F-Pace.

The staple engines in the F-Pace are expected to be the new four-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel units that will make their debut in the Jaguar XE saloon and Land Rover Discovery Sport from this summer.
