2016 Hyundai Equus Specs, Release Date, Price and Review

The new 2016 Hyundai Equus was spied while undergoing some tests. The spy shots gives us some hints about how the car will look like. The next-generation Equus will carry the same smaller dimension of the Genesis luxury model. The test mule was caught doing tests with the BMW 7 Series.

2016 Hyundai Equus Spy Shots

The Hyundai Equus should debut in 2016 or 2017. The original U.S.-market Hyundai Equus debuted at the 2010 New York auto show three years after the original Genesis sedan bowed in New York, so it stands to reason that the next-gen Equus would also arrive two to three years after the new Genesis. The all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis bowed at this year’s Detroit auto show, suggesting a 2016 or 2017 debut for the next generation Equus.

Exterior

These spy photos show a Hyundai Genesis sedan that appears to ride on a longer wheelbase, as there’s a large piece of sheetmetal riveted behind the rear doors to stretch the body. That would give the new Hyundai Equus more rear legroom than a Genesis; the current 2015 Equus has a 119.9-inch wheelbase and offers 58.0 inches of rear legroom, compared to 118.5 and 35.0 inches, respectively, in the new 2015 Genesis.

The arrival of the new 2015 Hyundai Genesis provides several important hints as to other changes that could be in store for the Equus. As the larger model will almost certainly share its platform with the Genesis, except the new Equus to use a higher proportion of high-strength steels and aluminum to help keep weight in check. Hyundai also added all-wheel drive to the new Genesis to help the car’s sales in Snowbelt states, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see AWD offered on the new Equus for the same reason. Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz all offer all-wheel drive on their largest luxury sedans.

Interior

The cabin of car is also improved with new look that shows elegance and luxurious through the improvement. First, the safety feature will be improved to create safer environment that can make any people feel safer while sitting inside the car.

Coziness will also be main point that is really arranged by Hyundai. The coziness point is shown through some features that are prepared well inside the cabin. It can make both the drivers and passengers feel comfortable inside the car.

Powertrain

Under the hood, it is quite interesting to hear the rumors said that this luxury sedan will get better EPA rating even though the company would not pay their biggest attention on gas mileage. At this time, the current model has problem with the engine. The current engine works under V8 5.0 liter to generate 429 horsepower and the EPA rating is 15/33 mpg. It was worse in real-world testing. Well, we could predict that 2016 Hyundai Equus will be presented with biggest change in this case. Perhaps, the company will support the engine to get much better EPA ratings by decreasing its bodyweight.
