It may not have the best badge in the business, but the 2015 model year is a good looking car, which boasts with a varied suite of amenities, as well as new styling or tech packages. But the 2016 Elantra shapes up to be even better than the outgoing one.

So what’s there to get excited about? Well, if you take a closer look at the prototype’s grille, you can identify a design that borrows heavily from the 2015 model year Genesis and Sonata. The front bumper design is more aggressively sculpted than that of the outgoing model, looking sharp thanks to those aggressively sculpted outer flanks that boast with LED strips and air vents.

As for the headlights, you can kiss the swept-back look of the current units in favor of thinner, more elegant light clusters. In terms of chassis and suspension, we don’t expect Hyundai to operate massive changes, but improve things such as handling characteristics and the ride.

While camouflage hides the extent of changes operated to the new Elantra’s profile and rear, those taillights are obviously redesigned, while the rear fenders have a bit of Sonata to them. Don’t worry, the rakish profile look of the current model will definitely live on for the 2016 model year. Expect Hyundai to unveil the 2016 Elantra in 2015, probably in the second half of the year.

The large cabin has an adorable dashboard that comprises of sophisticated features that provide a luxurious interior. They include an updated audio system, a dual-zone automatic climate controller, a key less ignition, a parking sensor, touch screen display and many more. In addition, there are several airbags that have been fitted strategically in the 2016 Elantra. They include airbags for front impact, for side impact and also for overhead. The car shall be capable of accommodating five people since it has sufficient head and leg room which is essential for comfortable seating. Its cabin also comes with a large luggage area for storing one’s staff.

Don’t anticipate massive changes here; at the least, there will be an continuation of the current 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter GDI engine options. Expect some minor tweaks to these units for improved economy and CO2 emissions.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed; a smaller, turbocharged four may make an appearance to help tackle the likes of Ford’s EcoBoost offerings. Power will be sensibly sent to the front wheels via a six speed manual or automatic.
