2016 Honda Pilot SUV Redesign, Specs and Review

Although it has not been confirmed, the 2016 Honda Pilot SUV is a strong candidate for future release. That being said, the upcoming SUV will feature larger body. As we all know, the Honda Pilot shares the same platform underpinning its cousin, the Acura MDX. Therefore, we expect that there will a lot of same features applied in the updated Pilot.

We can expect the 2016 Honda Pilot to be a little different than the current version of the vehicle. While nothing is finalized, we are told that the 2016 may be a tad bit longer and wider, giving the Pilot a different stance all together. It will still seat eight passengers, which was expected since this is one of the great draws of the Pilot. It’s possible that the overall occupant and cargo space could increase with a slightly larger model.

When you see these 2016 Honda Pilot spy shots, it is clear that new model will be completely redesigned, because it is completely camouflaged. New Pilot will probably keep its conventional square look, but it will be full of new design solutions, which will make it more modern and attractive to potential customers. It is expected that new model will get new platform which will be used in new Acura MDX too.2016-honda-pilot-suv-side-view

The interior of this 3 row SUV will be slightly larger than the former 2 gen Honda Pilot. The interior in addition to more space is abundant with a new luxury materials. Its expected that the third row will get easier access to door and a little more space. Control panel is significantly improved, and a new LCD screen that will provide numerous new functionalities. That means much more advanced entertainment, which was taken with MDX models. 2016 Honda Pilot has many other advanced electronics accessories: adaptive cruise control, sight and rear camera and will most likely provide the ability bluetooth connection.

The model-year 2015 vehicle only offers a single engine, and that isn’t likely to change, with the manufacturer’s direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 expected to get the job. The all-wheel drive system is expected to remain unchanged for cost reasons, even though many would like to see Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive with rear-axle torque-vectoring. For the sake of gas mileage, we could see the excellent nine-speed automatic transmission from the Acura TLX V-6 sedan fitted into the model-year ’16 Pilot, although the Accord V-6’s six-speed auto is another strong contender, especially if Honda wants to keep a lid on expenses.

Release Date and Price

Honda doesn’t provide any details regarding the upcoming Pilot’s release date, but the 2016 Honda Pilot SUV will be introduced in mid 2015 as 2016 model year. Since the Honda Pilot has a strong user base, we expect that company won’t make its price far too high than the current one. Look for the upcoming Pilot to cost around $31,000 for the base model, while the range topper will be as high as $43,000 with additional technology applied.
