2016 Chevrolet Silverado Redesign, Specs and Review

Spy shots of the new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup is leaked while undergoing some test in the United States. The Silverado pickup has strong fan base in all round the world and it is still the first choice among the pickup buyers. Being set to release next year, the vehicle is promising numerous updates including revised exterior, improved interior and and more powerful engines.

While the models feature a camouflaged front end, they don’t appear to be facelifted variants as most of the bodywork is unchanged. The only noticeable difference is a camouflaged hood which has a large air intake. This suggests the prototypes are testing a new engine.

Another great area where the automaker has done some changes is in the truck interior. The dashboard retains its projected instrument panel that houses a range of controls and touch screen display. Seats have been improved and fitted with leather upholstery something that makes them a bit more comfortable and efficient. There are also a number of safety features among which include traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, standard airbags, electronic cruise control, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitors, lane-departure warnings and cross-traffic alerts. When it comes to luggage and passenger space, customers are also assured of enough of it as the automaker is planning to make the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado a bit larger in terms of user and luggage space.

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD has 3 engine variations. You can choose the 6.0 litre V8 version or the 6.6 liter Duramax turbo diesel that runs by Allison transmission. For the more fuel efficient customers a CNG/gas version is offered. Horsepower is at a standard maximum of 360 while the torque of the Duramax engine is at an all impressive 765 pound feet. The two values generally mean you are getting strong and sturdy trucks that will not break down at the sight of a mountain. Most drivers love to stretch the limits of their trucks. For instance, most would want to find out if the new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD can tow 8000 pounds comfortably and if the 3500 HD can tow 13500 pounds to 14000 pounds. Answers for both questions are yes, and at a comfortable speed if I may add. Not too fast but not too slow either.

Off road the truck does not feel too rough unless you are driving on a really rough road. However, if you are driving on the highway, both the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD feel really light and can move at fast and amazing speeds. In fact, both feel like the new Silverado 1500 in that they give you a light and plush feeling.

Release Date and Price

The automaker doesn’t provide any details about its release date nor its pricing. Anyway, we expect that the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup won’t be there until late of 2015 as 2016 model year. Our estimated pricing is not that far from the current model’s pricing, it is likely to start from $30,000 for base model. We will update you soon as more information available.
