2016 Chevrolet Equinox Redesign, Specifications and Review

Latest reports said that the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox is possible for a release in near future. The crossover has been performing quite good in term of sales number. The growing market segment of big crossovers are very potential with a lot of new buyers to appeal. With the revise exterior design, GM is hoping that the updated Equinox will perform and attract new buyers even better.

Sales of the Equinox have grown each year for the last five years and are on their way to topping 200,000 units for the third straight year in 2014. The model’s sales performance is especially impressive when you consider that other offerings in the segment, such as the Ford Escape and Nissan Rogue, are significantly newer.


The 2016 refresh will add a deeper, wider grille which will put its styling more in-line with other Chevys. Meanwhile, the third-generation of the crossover is due in 2017. It will be then that the Equinox is moved to GM’s new D2XX architecture, the same platform that underpins the recently-unveiled Buick Envision. AN says moving the Equinox to D2XX will most likely result in a slightly smaller vehicle with less mass and improved fuel economy.

The interior improvements are yet to be confirmed but we do not expect any radical changes. Changes inside the 2016 Equinox will likely be limited to the updated gadgets, new fittings and new interior colors. The five-passenger vehicle will still boast of a simple but attractively-designed cabin that will be equipped with some impressive features. Some of the features that are expected on the vehicle include a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, and Pandora radio. The next Equinox will also offer a large cargo area.


The current version of Equinox models on the U.S. market, is available with a 2.4 L DOHC 4-cylinder engine. This engine is mated to 6-speed automatic transmission and FWD or AWD system. The choice of propulsion system is determined by the trim level. The current model is available in 8 different trims. Depending on this, it is conditioned  the price of the vehicle. For fans of powerful vehicles, the company offers the option of a version with 3.6 L V6 engine. And this engine is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission, develops 301 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. From 0 to 60 mph arrives in impressive 6.7 seconds.

2016 Chevrolet Equinox will include 3.6-liter engine offered as standard. Next to him, the new model should be available with a new four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged and with a 2.5 L four-cylinder engine, 196 hp power and 253 Nm of torque.
