2016 Audi A5 Coupe Redesign, Release Date and Price

After its first debut back in 2007, the handsome A5 model gets its first complete redesign in form of 2016 Audi A5. The coupe is expected to be released sometime in 2015. Spy shots of the next-generation A5 coupe has been revealed, at least we can imagine how the car will be look like.

The test mule shows that the 2016 A5 is still at an early stage of development, but we can gather from it that the new model will be similar in size and proportion to the current one, on sale since the 2007 model year. We should be seeing the first prototypes soon as the platform underpinning the car has already been extensively tested.

the vehicle will come with an evolutionary exterior design with sportier styling cues. Now Car Magazine reveals a bolder front end with single frame grille plus more aggressive and larger air intakes are expected.

The 2016 A5 Coupe will be based on the updated MLBevo architecture that promises to be lighter, stiffer and more efficient. The platform will bring a longer wheelbase, room for optional 20-inch wheels, a host of new assistance systems and LED or matrix lighting technology.

Stateside, the A5 is set to continue with two-thirds of the powertrain lineup—albeit with modest increases in power—as offered in the current car. Those engines: a 2.0-liter turbo four in the base car (currently 211 hp) and a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 in the S5 (currently 333 hp). The RS5 will abandon its 450-hp, 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 in favor of a version of the VW Group’s ubiquitous 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8.

Front-wheel drive will remain standard for the 2016 A5 while quattro all-wheel drive will continue to be offered as an option. The standard transmission should be an S tronic dual-clutch unit, possibly with eight forward gears. One of the key benefits of the latest MLB Evo platform is that it has been designed to be compatible with alternative powertrains. Look for a plug-in hybrid model, perhaps with a through-the-road hybrid system (e-tron quattro in Audi-speak).

Tech goodies will include LED headlights, an advanced infotainment system with Wi-Fi, a head-up display, and autonomous driving capability.
