2016 Alfa Romeo 6C Specs, Release Date and Review

The 2016 Alfa Romeo 6C is included into the future Alfa Romeo’s lineup. Bringing along the title of sports car, the 6C is totally different to its 4C sibling, the 6C is positioned as the high-end sports car. Borrowing the design style of Maserati Alfieri concept, the new sports car is said to target Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911.

Alfa’s answer to the Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911 will be based on the Maserati Alfieri concept – shown at the Geneva Motor Show and already confirmed for production in 2016. According to our source, the 6C will follow in 2017 and our exclusive images show how Alfa’s designers plan to seduce customers.

Under the skin the 6C won’t be based on the same platform as the 3 Series-rivalling Giulia saloon (due in late 2015) and the mid-sized and large SUVs (due in 2016 and 2017 respectively). Instead it will use the Alfieri’s underpinnings – a shortened version of the Maserati Ghibli.

Exterior

Auto Express believes that the Alfa Romeo 6C will be based around the recent Maserati Alfieri concept which itself is set to reach production in 2016. The Alfa Romeo 6C is likely to arrive the following year and in typically Alfa Romeo style, a huge amount of focus will be put into ensuring that the car looks as good as possible.

As a result, Auto Express suggests that the sports car will receive tear-drop shaped side glass like the Alfieri as well as a very sharp front-end design incorporating thin LED headlights and the traditional Alfa Romeo shield grille. At the tail end, the Alfa Romeo 6C will reportedly receive quad tailpipes as well as a short decklid and a sweeping rear window.

Powertrain

Power in the new Maserati and Alfa sports cars is said to come from the Ferrari-built twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine already found in the Ghibli—hence the 6C name for the new Alfa sports car. It’s not clear yet what the production Alfieri will be called, though a revival of Maserati’s GranSport badge is rumored.

Release Date and Price

Just like the previously released models, the 2016 Alfa Romeo 6C will be released in limited units. As a special high-end sports car, the all-new 6C will likely be produced in just few thousands unit. Release date is still unclear, though Auto Express reported that the 6C will be released in 2017. Base price is estimated to start at $125,000.
