2015 Volkswagen Touran Redesign, Specs and Spy Shots

Volkswagen is hard at work preparing the 2015 Volkswagen Touran. Its test mules has been spotted at different places, it could be a good sign that the vehicle is almost ready for production. Spy shots suggest that the new 2015 Touran will have an evolutionary design and reduced curb weight as well.

The new model is expected to be built upon the same modular MQB underpinnings as the new-generation Golf hatchback, with weight savings up to 100 kilograms over the previous-generation version which went on sale in 2010 in Europe and some other markets. It is also expected to grow compared to the current car, which spans 4.39 metres long, 1.79m wide and 1.67m tall.

A longer wheelbase is probable, while boot space is expected to grow from the already capacious 591 litres of the existing car. It is likely the new version will be offered with the option of five or seven seats.

The new model is expected to boast sharper styling than the car it replaces, taking design cues from the recently revealed Volkswagen Passat, including angular headlights with bold LED elements, a squarer rear-end and more shapely window-line.

This car has received modern systems which include the easy fold system on its seats. Again, for the first time, the Touran MPV is being equipped with Blue Motion which represents Volkswagen’s low fuel consumption vehicle program. Some of the biggest changes notable in its interior include the newest devices in terms of technology. Its cabin has received a facelift to make it look prettier and more spacious owing to inclusion of the latest system of folding seats.

Another feature that shall distinguish this model form the side are its two redesigned styles of wheels. The 18 Inch format of Arica alloy wheels has become of use in this new Volkswagen Touran. In addition, there is an optional tinted window which has been made to absorb about 65% of light. In addition, the 2015 Volkswagen Touran has an automatic post-collision Braking System that has been made to automatically slow down the car in case it is involved in an accident. Another essential feature is its Pre-Crash proactive occupant protection system which is a combination of both active and passive safety elements. Other features include an ACC Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with City Emergency Braking function, Lane and Side assist, Area View, Steel-spring suspension, air suspension and off-road characteristics among others.


Under the hood, the 2015 WV Touran will contain a new powertrain. It will contain a 1.2 l TSI diesel engine which will be able to generate up to 105 HP. Buyers of this car will also be able to choose a 2.0 l TDI diesel engine that produces horsepower of 150. The 2015 Touran will also come with a Blue Motion System, which will reduce the fuel consumption. Thanks to this, it is safe to say that it will be far more efficient than its predecessor.
